A certain discrepancy, you could say, came up Tuzenbach. At the beginning, we assumed that next to Vershinin – a rather exhausted man, constrained by a plethora of circumstances – Tuzenbach would seem free, perfectly uninhibited, in love with life, happy, and unsophisticated. However, the hardness of our sarcastic L. Kruglij won out.
For what it’s worth, I didn’t really resist his interpretation; as for myself, I was quietly fascinated by it.
