It’s funny, but I only just finished a film with Plisetskaya, the very same Maya Plisetskaya, who dances, and so well at that.
But she doesn’t just dance – she also plays the dramatic role of Polozovaya, from Turgenev’s “Torrents of Spring.” I mean, she does dance, of course. It was all her idea. Play a dramatic role and dance a ballet part in one and the same production. She brought excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s musical works and a ballet master from Minsk with her. “The rest,” she said, “is up to you.”
